It looks like the UFC might be targeting a return to Asia in the first quarter of 2023. More specifically, there are reports that the promotion is looking to host a UFC Fight Night Seoul event on February 4th of next year.
According to a recent report from Chris Presnell, the UFC is working to schedule an event at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea for February 4th, 2023. In a subsequent tweet, Presnell mentions that some fights have already begun to be verbally agreed upon for the event.
The most popular name among MMA fans who is currently being targeted for the UFC’s return to South Korea is an obvious one: “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung.
The Korean Zombie is coming off a disappointing loss to UFC Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski earlier this year and has hinted that he might not have too many more fights left in the tank.
Assuming that Zombie is ready for another fight and wants to be a part of the UFC Seoul card, there’s several fighters who would make sense as potential opponents for him including Max Holloway, Edson Barboza, and Dan Ige.
It is also being reported by Cole Shelton that Da Un Jong and Devin Clark have verbally agreed to a fight in February, and although there isn’t a specific date mentioned, it would be surprising if this fight wasn’t being targeted for February 4th in Seoul.
According to UFC Roster Watch, the UFC currently has 8 fighters who are either from South Korea or represent the country when they are fighting. There also plenty of other solid fighters from countries like China and Japan in the surrounding region who could help fill up the card.
Here are some of the other fighters who I think we could see added to the potential UFC Fight Night Seoul card in February, as well as a possible opponent for each one:
Song Yadong – Pedro Munhoz
Yan Xiaonan – Rose Namajunas
Li Jingliang – Yohan Lainesse
Kyung Ho Kang – Mario Bautista
Alatengheili – Ode Osbourne
Aoriqileng – Tyson Nam
Batgerel Danaa – Jay Perrin
Sumadaerji – Tim Elliot
There are several other fighters who are currently scheduled for fights in the coming weeks who could also theoretically turn around in time for this event including Weili Zhang, Jun Yong Park, Seung Woo Choi, and Tatsuro Taira.

Assuming the UFC proceeds with their plans to host an event in Seoul, South Korea in February, who are some of the fighters and fights that you would like to see added to the card? Share your thoughts down below.

UPDATE: It appears this event is almost definitely getting the greenlight, as there are now reports of other matchups in the works for UFC Seoul, including Mandy Bohm vs Ji Yeon Kim per John Hyon Ko on his Twitter account.
