We have what should be a fun-filled card on the way this afternoon with UFC Vegas 86. There are 14 fights scheduled for the event and it will be headlined by a middleweight clash between Jack Hermansson and Joe Pyfer. Despite a few initial misses on the scales yesterday, Ihor Potieria was the only fighter to miss weight and he’ll be forfeiting 20% of his purse as a result.

My favorite picks for this weekend’s card are Joe Pyfer, Dan Ige, Gregory Rodrigues and Daniel Marcos. I think all four have excellent matchups that favor them to various degrees. I expect Marcos to be the more dangerous fighter in his matchup against Aoriqileng and think he’ll be live to get a late stoppage or clean decision here. Rodrigues will be in a similar position against Brad Tavares where I think he should be the more powerful and dangerous fighter in the matchup. Tavares has been KOed in half of his eight losses, and I think there’s a good chance Robocop adds to that number here. Ige will be the more powerful striker in his fight against Andre Fili and has proven to be more reliable in these spots when he isn’t facing the top of the division. I think Ige can get this one done via decision or late stoppage. Pyfer is one of the Dana White’s “chosen” fighters who he has shown a personal interest in over the last couple of years and it’s understandable why. I think this matchup against Hermansson is an excellent litmus test to see if Pyfer is ready for the top of the division, and while I’m not sure how well he’ll do up there, I do like him a lot in the matchup. I like Pyfer’s chances of finding a finish during the first three rounds of this one.

Since it’s Super Bowl weekend, I have a couple of plays mixing and matching lines between the UFC and NFL and quite a few prop bets out for today’s card. I have three parlays open on the tracked bets: Marcos ML/Pyfer ML/Deebo Samuel TD (+427 for .5 units), Pyfer ML/Chase Young Over 0.25 sacks (+382 for .5 units) and Ige ML/Pyfer ML/George Kittle TD (+611 for .5 units). I’m loading up plays on Pyfer for today with the plan of dropping a small hedge on Hermansson if necessary. Here are the tracked UFC prop bets that I have open for today: Marcos by R2/3 KO/TKO (+650 for .25 units), Garcia by Split/Majority Decision (+900 for .25 units), Johnson by R2/3 KO/TKO (+480 for .25 units), Johnson by Decision (+450 for .25 units), Rodrigues by R2/3 KO/TKO (+500 for .25 units) and Bryczek by Submission (+1800 for .25 units). I’m not going heavy on any of the props but felt like all of those were at least worth a sprinkle for this one. That’s nine tracked plays out for a total of 3 units. I also have an open parlay coming into the weekend needing Ige and Rodrigues money lines to cash. If you plan to bet on the Super Bowl tomorrow also, I definitely recommend mixing and matching some plays between the two days, it’ll be the last chance to do so with the NFL for the next six months.
