UFC 288: Sterling vs Cejudo – Quick Picks, Predictions & Favorite Bets

After another last-minute cancellation during the weigh-in show this morning, UFC 288 now has twelve fights scheduled to take place tomorrow night in Newark, New Jersey.

There were no issues with the main card during the weigh-in, however, Joseph Holmes missed weight by three pounds and will now forfeit 20% of his fight purse as a result. Rafael Estevam did not attempt to make weight, so his fight against Zhalgas Zhumagulov has been cancelled.

With so many late changes during fight week and today, we’re just going to do the quick picks and predictions for this one. If you are interested in my favorite bets for this weekend’s card, be sure to check out my WagerWire UFC 288 Favorite Bets article with my three favorite prop bets to target.

My favorite picks for this card are Kennedy Nzechukwu, Jessica Andrade, Movsar Evloev (Inside the Distance) and Kron Gracie. Other than Gracie, Braxton Smith, Matt Frevola and Aljamain Sterling are the betting underdogs that I’m liking for upsets on this card.

I’m expecting both the main and co-main events to both see the championship rounds. For the co-main event, I’m going with Gilbert Burns to get the job done in a close one over Belal Muhammad. He’s slightly better everywhere and has faced the better competition between the two. In the main event, I’m leaning ever-so-slightly towards Aljamain Sterling to retain his championship via decision.
