UFC 325: Volkanovski vs Lopes 2 – Picks, Predictions & Betting Card

It’s Fight Day for UFC 325 from Sydney, Australia and we’ve got an action-packed card headed our way!

The lineup features 13 matchups, including a rematch between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes for the UFC Featherweight title and three Road to UFC bouts on the prelims to open the card.

Aaron Tau was the only fighter to miss weight after a wild trip to the scales that saw him come in at 122 pounds on his first attempt (with a curtain) before coming in at 129 pounds when they asked him to weigh without one.

As a result, his Road to UFC matchup against Namsrai Batbayar has been cancelled.

My favorite picks for this weekend are Quillan Salkilld, Benoit Saint Denis, Billy Elekana and Cam Rowston. My favorite potential betting upsets are Torrez Finney and Diego Lopes.

Salkilld is getting probably the most favorable matchup he’ll see for a while against Jamie Mullarkey, and I expect him to cash in on the opportunity.

He’s 3-0 in the UFC so far with a pair of first round KO/TKO wins and I think he’ll land early and often here against Mullarkey to find another stoppage victory to keep his momentum climbing.

Saint Denis is getting a big opportunity in the co-main event against Dan Hooker in what has the potential to be a Fight of the Night contender.

The God of War is riding a three-fight winning streak, all by stoppage, and catching Hooker on a quick turnaround in which his face got mangled barely two months ago.

I think Saint Denis will try to get this one on the ground and will be live for a ground and pound or submission stoppage.

Elekana will look for his third straight win in a big spot against Junior Tafa in the featured prelim.

Elekana should be able to avoid the early threat on the feet and mix in some takedowns here to pick up a stoppage win down the stretch.

Rowston gets a favorable matchup at home against Cody Brundage and should continue to build on his solid UFC start.

I think his size and length will bother Brundage in the striking and Rowston should be live for a submission win.

For the UFC 325 bets, I decided to keep things pretty light with one money line and a few prop bets. The money line play is on Torrez Finney (+150 for .5 units).

The prop bets are Finney to Win ITD (+450 for .25 units), Finney by KO/TKO (+600 for .25 units), Tuivasa by KO/TKO in Round 1 (+600 for .25 units), Saint Denis by KO/TKO (+330 for .5 units) and Lopes by KO/TKO (+325 for .5 units).

That’s a total of six bets for 2.25 units on the tracked plays for this weekend.

Really like Finney in this spot after spending a lot of time working with Daniel Cormier recently. After a lot of criticism in the past for some boring fights, I think we’ll see Finney push hard for a stoppage here against Jacob Malkoun.

For the other bets, I’m expecting it to be a violent main card, so took a few shots on some KO/TKO plays.

Tuivasa will be live to replicate what Derrick Lewis did in Tallison Teixeira’s last fight and put him out fast to try and end his five-fight losing streak.

You can stay on the KO/TKO prop with no round for a safer play since Tuivasa can also extend him out a bit for a win too.

I can’t really see Lopes submitting Volk, and a decision win will be tough in Sydney, but I think there’s a decent chance that we’re going to see him catch the champ on the feet tonight.

Last week on UFC 324, we did well enough on the picks, but the betting card was a total dumpster fire. Hopefully we can get back on track this week, but not overly confident on this card so tread lightly.

Next weekend is UFC Vegas 113 and we’re thrilled to be a running merch collab with Julius Walker for the card!

We also have one with Jose Henrique Souza, who was set to compete, but it looks like his debut has been pushed back.

If you’re interested in showing them some love, reach out to them via DM for info on ordering and be sure to tune in next weekend when Julius Walker opens the main card against Dustin Jacoby!

Expecting tonight to be a very fun card to watch with some violent matchups at the top. Last weekend’s debut on Paramount went over pretty well other than quite a few complaints on the amount/placement of ads.

Hopefully we see some adjustments there tonight and the new era continues to improve for the viewer. Paramount reportedly gained one million subscriptions last Saturday and the event was the promotion’s most viewed in a decade.
