It’s Fight Day UFC Vegas 108, and despite being back in the UFC Apex for the first time since May, this card should still be a pretty fun one with a lot of great matchups on paper. The lineup features 12 bouts and will be headlined by a short notice matchup at flyweight between Tatsuro Taira and HyunSung Park.

Tresean Gore (3.5 pounds over) and Rafael Estevam (4 pounds over) both missed weight for their respective matchups.

My favorite picks on this one are Taira, Kevin Vallejos, Renya Nakamura and Austin Bashi. My favorite potential betting upsets are Neil Magny, Nora Cornolle and Chris Duncan.

Taira has more experience at this level and has also gone 25 minutes, which might be a tough task for Park on roughly a week’s notice. Park is a powerful striker who will have a chance to land big early, but Taira should be able to stay safe and mix in some takedowns to wear on Park’s cardio. I expect Taira to find a submission sometime in the early rounds or cruise to a clean decision.

Vallejos, Nakamura and Bashi all have favorable matchups that they should be able to take advantage of to pick up wins. Vallejos and Nakamura should land the more damaging shots in their respective matchups, while I expect Bashi to have a pretty heavy wrestling and grappling advantage in a short notice fight of his own. I think all three will be live for stoppages and should have clear paths to decisions otherwise.

While we might not see as many upsets as we did last week with UFC Abu Dhabi, I think there’s a handful of live underdogs on the main card. Magny and Duncan will both size advantages they should be able to exploit as long as they can avoid big shots early in their fights. I also like Cornolle’s chances to squeeze out a narrow decision in her matchup via being more active in the striking/damage.

For the betting card this weekend, I’m taking things pretty light with a pair of prop bets and a couple of parlays. The prop bets are Magny to Win in R3/Dec (+205 for .5 units) and Duncan/Rebecki Goes the Distance – Yes (+170 for .5 units). The parlays are Ribovics to Win in R3/Dec + Taira by Submission or Decision (+194 for .5 units) and Taira ML + Fight Ends by Submission + Taira 2+ Takedowns (+310 for .5 units, SGP on DraftKings).

That’s a total of four bets for 2 units on the tracked plays. The bets have felt borderline cursed the last few weeks, so we’ll see if these end up getting us back on track or if we’re handing out another batch of free fades. I also have Taira ML, Ribovics ML and Magny ML on a play coming into the weekend that got started with Thursday’s NFL preseason game.

It should be a pretty fun night of fights to get things started for the month, be sure to check back next weekend for UFC Vegas 109 and UFC 319 the following weekend in Chicago.
