It’s almost fight time for UFC Vegas 103 from the Apex tomorrow. After a nightmare of a weigh-in event saw two fights fall off the lineup, we’re now down to ten matchups overall. Both Luana Carolina and Douglas Silva de Andrade had weight management/medical issues and were forced out of their respective bouts with Montana De La Rosa and John Castanada. Lucas Almeida is also being fined 20% of his purse for coming in two pounds heavy.

My favorite picks for this card are Danny Barlow, Esteban Ribovics, Chepe Mariscal and Mario Pinto. My favorite betting upset on the card is Cody Brundage. We also have The Problem’s Picks again this week from Chris Duncan!

Barlow is 2-0 in the UFC despite breaking an arm in his debut and coming back fairly quickly for his sophomore effort and has looked good overall in both efforts. I expect the rust to be fully off in this one and Barlow to be back at 100% throwing heavy early in his matchup with Sam Patterson and think it ends in the first or second by KO/TKO.

Ribovics will be in search of his fourth straight win in his matchup with Nasrat Haqparast and the Argentian fighter continues to look better with each showing. Haqparast is a solid striker, but I think Ribovics will land the bigger and more damaging shots to take rounds for a decision or late stoppage.

Chepe is 4-0 in the UFC and looking great as well as he gets ready to face Ricardo Ramos. Mariscal is one of those fighters who faced a ton of UFC-level names before he arrived, and much like Diego Lopes, he has shown he can handle the bright lights. Tough to nail down a method here, but there’s a good chance Mariscal gets it done inside the distance.

Pinto is 9-0 and a dangerous threat on the feet or ground. I’m not sure how high his ceiling in the UFC will be, but I think this matchup with Austen Lane is another very winnable step in the process. Lane has been KO/TKOed in all five of his career losses and I’m not sure he sees the cards here either as I think Pinto can get him out pretty early.

For the betting card this weekend I’m running a handful of two/three leg parlays and a couple of prop bets. The parlays are: Ribovics ML + Brundage ML (+180 for 1 unit), Pinto to Win Inside the Distance + Barlow ML + Ribovics by Decision (+298 for .5 units), Charles Johnson by Decision + Barlow by KO/TKO + Ribovics ML (+468 for .5 units), and Ribovics to Win in R3/Decision + Brundage to Win Ov 1.5 Rounds (+620 for .5 units). The prop bets are Johnson/Temirov to End by Split/Majority Decision (+400 for .25 units) and Brundage by Decision (+700 for .25 units).

I expect Johnson and Temirov to end up going to be cards with high potential to be a split with Temirov having the power to steal rounds, particularly if Charles starts off slow in the first round. I also really like Brundage to get this one done on the cards over Julian Marquez. While it’s possible Brundage puts him away, I think he play this one safe and use his wrestling and grappling to secure a needed win.
