We have a fun-filled Fight Night card on the way this weekend with UFC Macau, although the start time is less than ideal for fans here in the US for this one. The prelims will be starting overnight at 3AM ET with the main card set for 6AM ET. The card features 13 bouts and all 26 fighters successfully made weight for their respective matchups. The event will be headlined by a high stake’s matchup in the bantamweight division between Petr Yan and Deiveson Figueiredo and features several Road to UFC Finals matchups on the prelims.
My favorite picks for this weekend are Petr Yan, Carlos Ulberg, Cong Wang and Mingyang Zang. Yan and Figueiredo is an instant favorite for Fight of the Night in my opinion and should be a great matchup between two highly skilled strikers. While Figgy has looked solid going 3-0 since moving up to 135, I think he’ll struggle here against Yan if he isn’t able to get this one to the ground. I expect Yan to keep this one standing and to get the win via decision off higher volume striking and causing more damage down the stretch.
Ulberg is one of my favorite fighters in the light heavyweight division and is coming into this matchup on a six-fight winning streak capped off a 12 second KO/TKO win over Alonzo Menefield back in May. While Volkan Oezdemir presents a step up in competition, it’s one that I think Ulberg should be able to rise and meet. I expect this one to stay on the feet and think Ulberg will be able to control the range to pick Oezdemir apart from distance to get this one done on the cards.
Cong Wang made a statement in her UFC debut with a nasty first round KO win, so it’s easy to understand why she has a look of hype coming into this matchup. However, bookmakers have driven her money line well into the unbettable range for me with it currently sitting around -1000 on most books. Wang is an excellent kickboxer who has some nasty striking, but she will need to keep this on the feet against Gabriella Fernandes to have a chance to cover that line. I’m not sure Wang will find another electric knockout but think she can get this one done via decision if not.
Mingyang Zhang and Ozzy Diaz should be a lot of fun for however long it lasts between two fighters with 100% finish rates in their 26 combined wins. Zhang is a heavy hitter who is riding a 10-fight winning streak into this matchup with Diaz, who has been stopped by KO/TKO in both of his career losses. I think both of these guys will be fine staying on the feet in this one and like Zhang’s chances of finding another KO/TKO sometime in the first two rounds.
For the betting card this weekend, I’m keeping things fairly light with a pair of prop bets and a 3-leg parlay. The two prop bets are Maheshate by KO/TKO (+145 for .5 units) and Ulberg by Decision (+240 for .5 units). The parlay consists of Ulberg ML + Yan Xiaonan by Decision + Yan ML (+253 for .5 units). This is a pretty low confidence card overall for me when it comes to the picks with so many unknown and lesser-known fighters on the prelims, so there weren’t many spots that I wanted to target for the bets.
That’s a total of three bets out for 1.5 units on the tracked plays. I also have an open parlay coming into the card that needs Kenan Song ML and Petr Yan ML. This event rounds things out for UFC events this month and there are only two more before the end of the year: UFC 310 and UFC Tampa. Hopefully things will hold together, and we won’t see too many cancellations on either card as both lineups are looking pretty solid to finish off the year. Hope everyone enjoys the fights and best of luck on the bets this weekend!
