After a weekend off without a UFC event in the aftermath of Noche UFC, we’re back today with a really fun card with UFC Paris. The lineup features 14 fights and will be headlined by a great lightweight matchup between Renato Moicano and Benoit Saint Denis and a high-stakes matchup at middleweight between Nassourdine Imavov and Brendan Allen. There was only one issue yesterday at weigh-ins for the event, with Ailin Perez coming in half a pound over the women’s bantamweight limit while looking pretty rough on the scales. She will be fined 20% of her fight purse for the miss, and despite looking rough at the weigh-in where she appeared wobbly on the scale, Perez seemed to be fine later in the day
My favorite picks for this card are Ludovit Klein, Morgan Charriere, Benoit Saint Denis and Bryan Battle. Klein has looked great recently winning his last three fights and is getting a step back in competition in my opinion with Roosevelt Roberts. I expect Klein to be better everywhere in this one and he should win convincingly. Charriere is another fighter on this card who has a very favorable matchup in my opinion facing Gabriel Miranda. While Miranda is a very dangerous submission threat, Charriere should be levels above him on the feet and has only been submitted once in 30 professional fights. I expect Charriere to piece Miranda up on the feet for a KO/TKO down the stretch.
Benoit Saint Denis is coming off a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 299 and gets a tough opponent, but I really like him in this matchup. Saint Denis is a solid striker with good power and should be as good or better on the ground. I think he’ll be able to crack Moicano sometime during the first few rounds and like his chances of following up for a TKO or club-and-sub finish once he hurts Moicano. Battle and Kevin Jousset should be a really fun fight on the feet, and I could see a bonus coming out of this one. Battle has looked great in the UFC and his only loss came when Rinat Fakhretdinov was able to completely ground him out. I don’t see Jousset being able to do that and think Battle will be the more well-rounded threat offensively here to pick up the decision win or late submission.
For the betting card this week, it’s a pretty small one for the UFC only plays with just two bets out: Brendan Allen ML + Benoit Saint Denis ML (+282 for .5 units) and Ludovit Klein by Decision (+210 for .5 units). I have quite a few bets out blending UFC and NFL lines, and the UFC lines I need for those bets include Bryan Battle ML, Saint Denis ML, Allen ML, Imavov/Allen Fight Goes Distance – Yes, Saint Denis to Win in R1/2/3 and Charriere to Win Ov1.5 Rounds. Some of the NFL anytime TD props I’m liking this weekend include Jamarr Chase TD, Travis Kelce TD, Tony Pollard TD, Brandon Aiyuk TD and Sam LaPorta TD. That’s a total of one unit out on the two official plays but keep an eye out on our social media accounts throughout the day for any late or live bets.
Overall, I’m pretty excited for this card, particularly from a viewing standpoint. Paris has traditionally had pretty great and energetic crowds in recent years when the UFC has visited the city, and I expect it to continue with this one. Be sure to join us next weekend for UFC 307 with Alex Pereira defending his UFC Light Heavyweight title against Khalil Rountree Jr in the main event from Salt Lake City.
