We’re back again for another UFC Fight Night event with UFC Vegas 94 later today. The card features 11 bouts and will be headlined by a strawweight matchup between former title challenger Amanda Lemos and Virna Jandiroba. There were supposed to be 12 matchups on the card, however, Jun Yong Park was forced to withdraw last minute from his co-main event bout against Brad Tavares due to medical issues after the weigh-in yesterday. With that bout scrapped, Steve Garcia Jr and Seung Woo Choi will now take the co-main slot on the card.
My favorite picks this weekend are Miranda Maverick, Steve Garcia Jr and Jeong Yeong Lee. I normally go with four fighters in this spot, but to be perfectly honest, I couldn’t even settle on a fourth pick on this lineup and didn’t want to force one. Maverick is on a full camp with a sizable experience advantage over Dione Barbosa, who stepped up to take this fight on short notice. As long as Maverick avoids the early submission threat, I think she’ll pull away down the stretch and pick up a decision or late TKO victory in this matchup.
Garcia Jr has an 80% KO/TKO rate in his 15 career wins and enters this bout with Choi on a 3-fight winning streak. While Choi is coming off a decision win, he had lost his previous three fights with two coming by KO/TKO and is just 4-5 overall in the UFC. Garcia should be better pretty much everywhere and will have the power to get this one done, most likely by early KO/TKO. Lee and Hyder Amil should be a fun matchup between two prospects in the featherweight division, but I’m going with Lee in this one to hand Amil his first career loss. Lee is 2-0 already during his UFC run and riding an eight-fight win streak overall and I think he’ll extend it here with another decision win or late stoppage.
For the betting card this weekend, I’m keeping things pretty light with three prop bets and two small parlays. The prop bets for this week: Miranda Maverick by KO/TKO (+1200 for .25 units), Jeong Yeong Lee by Decision (+225 for .5 units) and Jake Paul by Decision (+250 for 1 unit). My biggest play of the weekend actually isn’t even on this card, but from the Jake Paul vs Mike Perry boxing match tonight. Perry should give Paul a nice run for his money, but ultimately, I expect Paul to squeeze this one out on the scorecards and would be shocked if he stops Mike Perry.
I also have a two-leg parlay out featuring Steve Garcia Jr ML + Paul by Decision (+477 for .5 units) and a riskier play with Maverick by Decision or KO/TKO Double Chance + Garcia KO/TKO in R1/2 + Paul by Decision (+1320 for .25 units). That’s a total of five bets out this week for 2.5 units. Be sure to check back next weekend for picks and bets for UFC 304, which should be a really fun card featuring Leon Edwards vs Belal Muhammad 2 for the Welterweight title and Tom Aspinall defending the interim Heavyweight belt against Curtis Blaydes. Let me know in the comments below who you’re liking and what your favorite bets are for tonight. Best of luck to everyone on their bets and enjoy the fights!
