UFC Paris: Gane vs Spivac – Full Picks, Predictions & Favorite Bets

The UFC returns to France this weekend with a Fight Night lineup that packs plenty of French flavoring. There are eleven fights scheduled for the event with nine fighters representing France inside the octagon. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight matchup between Cyril Gane and Serghei Spivac, while the co-main event features Manon Fiorot welcoming Rose Namajunas to the flyweight division.

The official weigh-in for the event went relatively smoothly, with all 22 fighters making weight for their bouts. Zarah Fairn needed a second attempt on the scales, however, she was able to make the 140-pound catchweight for her matchup against Jaqueline Cavalcanti. If the crowd at the ceremonial weigh-in was any indication, that arena should be absolutely electric tomorrow during the event.

My favorite picks on this card are Cyril Gane, Manon Fiorot, Farid Basharat and Volkan Oezdemir. For a more detailed breakdown of my thoughts on Gane and the main event, check out my WagerWire UFC Paris article for this week, which also features my favorite bets for the fight. Fiorot will likely have her hands full with Namajunas, but I think she will be able to handle any early adversity in the matchup and pick up the decision win or potentially a late KO/TKO stoppage. Basharat should win a pretty convincing decision and also has a good chance to find a submission down the stretch. Oezdemir will arguably have the most dangerous opponent of the four, but one who is also untested at the UFC level. I expect him to weather an early storm and find a KO/TKO stoppage.

I kept the betting card relatively small this weekend and tried to stick with the spots that I trust the most to come through. I ended up with three two-leg parlays and two straight prop bets. The parlays: Fiorot ML + Gane ML (+148), Oezdemir ML + Fiorot R3/Dec (+202), and Basharat R3/Dec + Gane ML/Most significant strikes landed (+194 DraftKings SGP+). The prop bets that I took a shot on were Gane by KO/TKO in R1/2/3 (+160) and Basharat by Submission in R2/3 (+800). I placed one unit on everything except for the Basharat submission play, I stayed with .25 units on that one since it’s a bit riskier.

  1. These picks are relatable, but I’ve got to say that all favorites never hit on a card.

    1. Agreed, definitely unlikely favorites will sweep, just couldn’t find many confident underdog picks on this one. Best of luck today and enjoy the fights!
