UFC 280: Another Fight Dropped from the Event + New Card

UFC 280 Artist Series Poster by @BartlettStudio

While UFC 280 is definitely still one of the most stacked events of the year on paper, it is starting to take a couple hits as we’ve now lost a second fight from the lineup.

Multiple reports emerged yesterday stating that Magomed Mustafaev vs Yamato Nishikawa has fallen off the card, although the exact reasoning as to why it’s being removed is still a bit unclear.

Most of the reports state that the fight was cancelled due to Nishikawa still apparently being under contract with a former promotion, although he is claiming that is not the case.

Either way, with the removal of this fight and the one between Jailton Almeida and Shamil Abdurakhimov being cancelled already, we now have 13 fights remaining for the event.

New UFC 280 Card (as of 10/19/2022)

Thankfully the main card has remained unblemished, and with only a few days remaining until the event, hopefully we are done having issues with fights dropping barring any major last minute weight cutting issues.

Check back tomorrow for our full OddSmokerMMA UFC 280 Picks & Predictions post. Also be sure to check out our opening bets and early OddSmokerMMA UFC 280 Preview in the meantime!
